The Montessori Kindergarten class at CHMS is blended into our multi-age classroom which includes younger children. In Montessori education we provide classroom environments and communities that function much like a home environment. This means that the classroom is comfortable, lovely and functions to support the needs and interests of the child. This also means that children are able to be with peers who are different ages. By being a part of multi-age classroom community children are able to learn from one another, become leaders and helpers and also have someone to look up to. This model continues into the Montessori elementary classrooms as well. When children are in a multi-age environment they are always able to move forward or focus longer on skills both academically, socially and emotionally.
